On February 5th, 2025, Goodyear Farm Tires launched its brand-new podcast, Talking Crop, a six-part series that explores the successes, challenges, and decisions faced by UK farming families.
The podcast is part of Goodyear Farm Tires’ ongoing commitment to supporting agricultural communities, showcasing real-life stories of succession planning, diversification, and family dynamics in modern farming.
“Farming is more than a business—it’s a way of life, often passed down through generations. Through Talking Crop, we want to shine a light on these families, their resilience, and their dedication to the land.”
The debut episode of Talking Crop tells the inspiring story of Chad and Lucy Stevens, a couple who left their professional careers behind to take over a 200-acre farm in West Yorkshire.
Lucy – Former owner of a beauty salon in Wakefield, sold her business in 2021 to focus fully on farming.
Chad – A former Chief Inspector for Humberside Police, stepped away from his role in October 2024 to join the farm full-time.
The Transition – The Stevens family took over the farm in 2014 after Lucy’s grandfather passed away, making the decision to continue the family’s farming legacy.
The couple now balances farm life with raising three children—Herbie, Arnie, and baby Posie—while learning how to navigate the challenges of modern agriculture.
Talking Crop aims to highlight real-life farming challenges and triumphs, covering topics such as:
Succession Planning – How families transition farms across generations.
Farming Diversification – Innovative ways to sustain and grow agricultural businesses.
Family Dynamics – Balancing personal relationships with running a farm.
Each episode will feature different farming families, offering insight into their journeys, struggles, and successes.
