Family-Run B & K Williams Expands With Point S UK Support.

A chance puncture set B & K Williams on a new path in Caernarfon, North Wales. Three and a half years after joining the Point S UK network, the family-run garage reports steady growth, investment in diagnostics and staff training, and a collaborative rebrand with bilingual signage to reflect local Welsh speakers. The workshop now employs seven technicians and serves a loyal, expanding customer base.

How a flat tyre became a growth catalyst

Owner Kevin Williams says the story began with an unplanned stop. “I’d travelled to Shrewsbury to buy a car, and when I realised the tyre was faulty, I was pointed toward a local Point S centre,” Kevin recalls. “I ended up speaking with the owner, who told me about the benefits of being part of the network. I went home and got in touch – and here we are.”

B & K Williams joined Point S UK and has since invested in new diagnostic equipment and training while growing headcount to a seven-technician team. “It’s still very much a family business,” he adds. “That’s what keeps us grounded. We’ve grown, but we’ve stayed true to who we are.”

Rebrand reflects community roots

Working with Point S UK, the garage has completed a visual refresh featuring bilingual Welsh-English signage to match local language use. “The new signage is getting our customers talking – they’re asking what Point S is, and that starts the conversation,” says Kevin. “It’s a fresh look, but what matters most is what’s behind the signage: a trusted service and local relationships.”

Day-to-day operations are led by manager Paul Childes. “The progress we’ve made recently is down to having a phenomenal team,” Kevin stresses. “Instrumental in this progress has been our manager, Paul.”

What Point S UK membership delivers

The business cites improved tyre and parts supply, marketing support and engagement with the wider network among the benefits. The development aligns with recent network activity: Point S UK has reshaped its leadership, including appointing Ali Yilmaz as UK Managing Director, to support member growth.

Point S UK has also been advising independent tyre dealers on agile inventory strategies, underscoring how networks can help smaller workshops navigate supply volatility. See our coverage: Point S advises tyre retailers to stay flexible on inventory.

“Real opportunity in the aftermarket”

Kevin’s message to other independents is clear: “We’re proof that there is real opportunity in the aftermarket,” he says. “Whether it’s investing in your team or growing your site, there’s space for independents to thrive. You just have to take the first step – even if it starts with a bad tyre.”
