Balkrishna Industries Ltd (BKT) says it has again achieved ‘Excellence Level’ under Caterpillar’s global Supplier Excellence Recognition (SER) programme for 2025, marking a fourth successive year. The off-highway tyre maker supplies Caterpillar operations in India, covering equipment from 40 to 190 tonnes. BKT frames the repeat award as validation of product quality, delivery performance and technical support throughout its development and service processes.

What the SER ‘Excellence Level’ Means

Caterpillar’s SER programme recognises top-performing suppliers against stringent criteria across quality, delivery and continuous improvement. The ‘Excellence Level’ is the highest tier in the scheme. According to Caterpillar, recognition is made at an annual event and highlights suppliers that meet world-class benchmarks.

BKT says its relationship with Caterpillar dates to 2015, initially focused on supplies for the Indian market. Today, the company supplies off-highway tyres for machines ranging from 40 to 190 tonnes, backed by proactive communication and on-site technical assistance. The company’s SER journey began with Silver in 2017, progressing through Gold and Platinum to the current ‘Excellence Level’, which BKT says it has maintained for four years.

“We are truly honored to receive the Caterpillar Excellence Supplier Award… We look forward to carrying on our support for Caterpillar's success with the same passion and reliability that distinguish BKT Tires,” said Ludovic Revel, President Global OEM at BKT.

Recent Tyre News reporting shows BKT intensifying OEM and market activity in off-highway tyres:

Why It Matters for Fleets and Procurement

  • Assurance on supply and performance: SER status signals consistent delivery and quality levels.
  • Alignment with OEM requirements: Continued recognition indicates processes compatible with Caterpillar’s production and service needs.
  • Relevance to OE strategy: BKT’s recent organisational changes and product launches point to deeper OEM engagement and fitment potential, useful for fleet standardisation. See Tyre News coverage on BKT’s market ambitions and mining range.
