Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) Extends Deadline for Pre-Sampling Questionnaires

In a move that aims to promote inclusivity and gather comprehensive insights, the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has heeded the request of the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) by extending the deadline for the submission of pre-sampling questionnaires.

This extension will allow industry members more time to provide meaningful observations and evidence in response to the TRA's transition reviews on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures for lorry and bus tires imported from China.

Original Deadline Raises Concerns:

Initially, the TRA had set the deadline for submitting the questionnaires as May 18, 2023. However, numerous stakeholders within the industry raised concerns, considering the timeframe to be excessively short. Manufacturing and wholesale/importer members, in particular, voiced their apprehension about the limited period available for comprehensive analysis and data collection.

NTDA Advocates for Extension:

Responding to these concerns, the NTDA took the initiative to formally request an extension until Monday, May 29, 2023, highlighting the intricacies and complexities inherent in the international tyre industry. Recognising the need for a more inclusive and robust process, the NTDA emphasised the importance of allowing ample time for stakeholders to provide well-informed debates, findings, and facts.

TRA Grants Extension:

In a written response to the NTDA's request, the TRA has confirmed the extension of the deadline, aligning with their commitment to a fair and objective review process. This extension reflects the TRA's dedication to ensuring that all parties involved have an equal opportunity to contribute their perspectives and evidence, irrespective of the final outcome.

Engagement Encouraged:

With the extended deadline, manufacturers, importers, and wholesalers affected by the review are strongly urged to actively engage with the TRA's online case platform. By actively participating in this process, industry members can help shape the ultimate decisions made by the TRA and guarantee that their voices are heard and considered in an unbiased manner.
