Installed on the expansive 96,000-square-meter rooftop of TTM's factory building, this mega solar plant plays a pivotal role in the company's strategy to drastically cut down on CO2 emissions. Once operational in December this year, it's projected to produce an impressive 19,000 MWh of electricity annually. This translates to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, estimated at around 12,000 tons per annum.

Today's commemorative ceremony, marking the half-way point of the installation, was graced by esteemed guests such as Perak's Governor Saarani Bin Mohamad, local administrative dignitaries, and various business associates. The Governor expressed his commendations, stating, "We welcome Toyo Tire's further focus on ESG initiatives to create a sustainable business environment in Malaysia. Toyo Tire and Solarvest will work together towards a greener future. I am proud to be able to meet you."

Since its inauguration in May 2013, TTM has been a beacon of productivity. Serving as a global distribution hub, it ensures the consistent supply of high-quality, high-performance tires not just to Southeast Asia, but to major markets including North America, Europe, and Japan. This new solar venture complements TTM's ongoing efforts to incorporate energy-saving measures throughout its manufacturing processes, further underlining its commitment to decarbonisation.

Toyo Tires' overarching vision is evident in their "Sustainability Management Policy." By 2050, the company aims to achieve complete carbon neutrality. With ambitions set high, they are targeting a 46% reduction in Scope 1+2 CO2 emissions by 2030 (using 2019 as a reference point). For Toyo Tires, sustainability and ESG are not mere buzzwords but integral aspects of their operational philosophy, emphasising the delivery of economic, environmental, and societal value.
