In a groundbreaking move towards a greener future for the transport sector, Olleco, the nationwide circular economy business specialising in cooking oil and food waste recovery, has partnered with Michelin's Services and Solutions division.

The newly signed Effitires contract marks a significant milestone for both companies as they share a strong commitment to sustainability. By transitioning Olleco's entire truck fleet, along with its cars and light commercials, to Michelin products, this collaboration sets a remarkable precedent for environmental responsibility within the industry.

Transitioning Towards Sustainability:

Previously relying on a competitor's tires, Olleco has taken a giant leap forward by embracing Michelin as its tire supplier. Through a combined Michelin new and Remix policy, Olleco's truck fleet will now benefit from the high-quality and sustainable performance of Michelin tires. Furthermore, the company's cars and light commercials will also be equipped with Michelin tires, reinforcing their commitment to a cleaner and greener transport ecosystem.

Tailored Services & Solutions:

The decision to partner with Michelin was solidified when the renowned tire manufacturer demonstrated how their tailored Services & Solutions contract could aid Olleco in reducing its carbon footprint. By optimising CO2 emissions, maximising fuel efficiency, and delivering substantial financial savings, Michelin showcased the potential for meaningful environmental impact through their comprehensive tire management solutions.

Expert Care and Maintenance:

To ensure the smooth implementation of the new tire policy, Olleco has enlisted the expertise of service partners ATS Euromaster and Tructyre. These trusted providers will be responsible for fitting and maintaining Michelin tires across Olleco's extensive fleet. By utilising their mobile technicians, the tires will be replaced when necessary, guaranteeing optimum performance and safety on the road.

A Sustainable Tire Lifecycle:

As part of the collaboration, Michelin will employ a multi-life policy to manage the tires fitted to Olleco's vehicles. Skilled technicians will regroove worn tires on-site when the tread depth reaches 3-4mm, extending their life in the most fuel-efficient state. Once regrooved tires have reached the end of their useful life, they will be retreaded at the Michelin Remix plant in Stoke-on-Trent. This process not only conserves natural resources but also doubles the lifespan of Michelin casings and supports UK manufacturing.

Embracing the Michelin 4R Strategy:

Aligned with the Michelin 4R strategy—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Renew—the partnership between Olleco and Michelin reflects a shared commitment to sustainable practices. The management of worn casings strictly adheres to Michelin's stringent environmental disposal program, ensuring responsible handling and minimising ecological impact.

A Promising Partnership:

Jonathan Layton, National Sales Manager for Michelin Services & Solutions, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Olleco, emphasising the shared values and sustainability-focused mindset. The partnership is set to enhance Olleco's business efficiency, compliance, and overall environmental performance, underlining the mutual dedication to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future.

The new Effitires contract between Olleco and Michelin's Services and Solutions division represents a significant step towards a greener transport sector. By transitioning to Michelin tires, Olleco is embracing sustainable practices that will have a positive impact on both the environment and their business. This collaboration demonstrates the power of strategic partnerships in driving sustainability forward and sets an inspiring example for others in the industry. As Olleco and Michelin continue their journey together, they pave the way for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for the entire transport sector.
