Almeida will be responsible for driving the company's sustainability activities globally, with a focus on strategic positioning and management. Almeida's appointment comes as Claus Petschick, the former Head of Sustainability, retires after over 30 years at Continental. Under Petschick's leadership, Continental's sustainability strategy was realigned and advanced, positioning the company as a leader in sustainable and responsible business.

Continental Tires' sustainability strategy covers all phases of a tire's value chain, from responsible sourcing of raw materials to recycling end-of-life tires. The company aims to become the most progressive tire manufacturer by 2030, pursuing ambitious goals in climate change mitigation, low-emission transportation, the circular economy, and responsible supply chains.

In his new role, Almeida will build on this strong foundation, consistently developing and implementing Continental's sustainability strategy. He reports directly to Christian Kötz, Head of the Tires Group Sector and member of the Executive Board of Continental AG.
