The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has launched “Versatran”, a high-pressure spiral hose line that meets SAE and EN requirements and targets demanding hydraulic applications in construction, mining and offshore oil. Announced in Tokyo on 28 March 2017, the range adds MSHA-certified flame resistance and a tighter minimum bend radius, positioning Yokohama to grow overseas sales in OEM and MRO channels.
Yokohama says Versatran’s material design delivers superior flexibility versus many conventional spiral hoses built to SAE and EN construction rules. In practice, a smaller minimum bend radius helps engineers route lines in confined spaces, reduces stress at fittings and can simplify maintenance.
The initial line-up includes five SAE 100R15 sizes rated to 42 MPa and two EN 4SH sizes: 3/4 inch at 42 MPa and 1 inch at 38 MPa. That coverage aligns with common pressure classes in heavy mobile equipment and fixed industrial plants, allowing straightforward specification or retrofit across fleets and production sites.
The hoses carry Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) flame-resistance approval, supporting risk assessments for underground and surface operations where ignition sources are tightly controlled. Each hose is imprinted with Yokohama’s coloured Performance Y logo, aiding brand recognition and traceability in busy workshops and depots. Versatran sits alongside Yokohama’s wire-braid general-purpose lines and its ISO 18752 families, which have established a service record with Japanese construction machinery manufacturers. The company said the launch “strengthens overseas sales of high-pressure hoses for challenging applications requiring durability and consistent performance,” underscoring a focus on long-life, high-duty service in global markets.
For plant hire, quarrying, and on-site service providers, improved flexibility and standard compliance translate into faster installation and fewer premature failures. Distributors gain a branded, MSHA-approved option across two major standards, simplifying inventory while supporting both OEM build and MRO demand.
