Independent tyre retailer and wholesaler Tyre Spot has raised £2,414 for the North East Community Forest through its "Drive with Purpose" campaign, in a partnership with Radar Tyres that ran across the company's North East branches throughout September and October.
The two-month initiative donated £1 for every Radar tyre sold, with customers directly contributing to woodland expansion and nature recovery across the region. Radar Tyres is produced by Omni United, a manufacturer well regarded within the tyre industry for its leadership in sustainability and social responsibility, and that ethos helped shape the campaign's environmental focus.
The funds raised will support an ambitious woodland expansion at Milkwellburn Wood, near Gateshead. The project will see more than 3,000 trees planted across a 5.45-hectare site, creating a diverse mixed broadleaf woodland intended to enhance wildlife habitats, improve climate resilience, and improve access to nature for local communities.
The planting will be delivered in partnership with the Durham Wildlife Trust, extending the existing Milkwellburn Wood site while maintaining the area as an accessible and valued community space.
A Tyre Spot spokesperson said: "We're incredibly proud of what the Drive with Purpose campaign achieved. Radar Tyres have long been recognised for their leadership in sustainability, and that helped inspire us to create a campaign that could make a real difference locally. Thanks to the support of our customers, we've been able to contribute to an important project that will benefit the environment and our communities for years to come."
The campaign also raised an equal sum for the Women's Cancer Detection Society, underlining Tyre Spot's broader commitment to community causes. However, the company describes its ongoing relationship with the North East Community Forest as central to its growing environmental strategy.
Looking ahead, Tyre Spot plans to build on the partnership through further initiatives of a similar kind. Later this year, members of staff will join volunteers at community planting events to help establish the new woodland areas that the campaign has helped to fund, bringing a hands-on dimension to the company's environmental commitment.
The Drive with Purpose campaign illustrates how a supplier partnership, customer engagement, and grassroots action can combine to produce meaningful sustainability outcomes. For an independent tyre business operating across multiple branches, it also offers a practical model for how the wider tyre retail sector can contribute to local environmental goals without requiring significant operational change.
