
German tyre recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations AG has introduced new market names for its recycled raw materials after securing ISCC EU certification for its thermolysis oil. The certification confirms the sustainability and traceability of oil produced from end-of-life tyres and enables the company to supply certified feedstock to energy, chemical and materials markets.
The certification under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU) scheme applies to Pyrum’s thermolysis oil, one of the main outputs from its end-of-life tyre recycling process.
ISCC EU certification verifies that the material meets strict sustainability and traceability standards required in regulated fuel and chemical supply chains.
In practice, this allows the recycled oil to be recognised as a sustainable feedstock for biofuels and other renewable energy carriers. Suppliers in these sectors increasingly require certified materials to meet decarbonisation targets and compliance obligations.
By securing certification, Pyrum can integrate its recycled tyre-derived oil into established supply chains where independently verified raw materials are mandatory.
Alongside certification, the company has renamed its recycled outputs to align them more clearly with their end-use markets.
The thermolysis oil now carries a market-focused designation highlighting its role as a circular and sustainable feedstock. Pyrum has also clarified the positioning of its recovered carbon black, the solid fraction produced during the process, as a secondary raw material suitable for industrial applications.
The company says the naming changes will simplify communication with customers, regulators and partners across tyre manufacturing, chemicals and energy markets.

He said the move helps ensure Pyrum’s recycled outputs are recognised as sustainable raw materials by industries that require verified traceability.
