Nexen Tire has announced an original equipment supply agreement with KG Mobility, providing tyres for the manufacturer's Musso pickup truck range.
The South Korean tyre maker will supply two models tailored to the vehicle's requirements: the N'PRIZ RH7 and the Roadian HTX RH5. Both fitments have been engineered to address the demanding on-road and off-road conditions typically encountered by pickup truck operators.
The Musso, positioned as a workhorse vehicle capable of handling substantial payloads and challenging terrain, requires tyres that can maintain structural integrity under repeated stress. Nexen's OE fitments are designed to accommodate loads of up to 700kg whilst delivering consistent performance across varied road surfaces.
The N'PRIZ RH7 will be fitted to higher-specification Musso variants, available in 18- and 20-inch sizes to complement the larger wheels found on premium trims. The tyre features four wide circumferential grooves designed to enhance water evacuation and reduce the risk of aquaplaning. An optimised block design aims to improve driving stability whilst balancing noise levels and fuel efficiency.
This isn't Nexen's first collaboration with KG Mobility on the N'PRIZ RH7; the tyre has previously been specified as OE for the manufacturer's Rexton Sports and Rexton Sports Khan models.
For base-trim Musso models, Nexen will supply the Roadian HTX RH5 in 17-inch sizes. This fitment has been developed with load-carrying capability and long-distance driving in mind, featuring a tread pattern optimised to balance ride comfort and mileage. The tyre incorporates a widened shoulder and sidewall construction which, according to Nexen, improves heat dissipation and enhances durability. The groove configuration and three-dimensional tread structures have been specifically designed to perform reliably in the varied terrain and climate conditions found across South Korea.
Commenting on the partnership, John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim, CEO of Nexen Tire, emphasised the critical role tyre performance plays in the pickup segment: "For pickup trucks like the Musso, tyre performance is particularly important due to the payload requirements and diverse driving environments. By developing OE tyres tailored to specific vehicle characteristics, we will continue to expand our collaborations with auto makers in the multipurpose vehicle segment, which includes pickup trucks and SUVs."
The announcement represents a continuation of Nexen's strategy to strengthen its position in the OE market, particularly within the growing multipurpose vehicle category. As manufacturers increasingly focus on vehicles that bridge the gap between commercial utility and passenger car refinement, tyre suppliers are responding with products that address the unique demands of these versatile platforms.
