Giti Tire is launching a new Ecoroad truck tyre range for European long-haul fleets, led by the Giti GDL272 Ecoroad drive tyre in size 315/70R22.5. The company says the range will offer A-rated rolling resistance across drive, steer and trailer positions, giving fleet operators another option as fuel efficiency and CO₂ reporting move higher up procurement agendas.
The Giti GDL272 Ecoroad is available to order now, with the Giti GSL271 Ecoroad steer tyre in 315/70R22.5 and the Giti GTL273 Ecoroad trailer tyre in 385/55R22.5 due from the fourth quarter. All three products are scheduled to be displayed at The Tire Cologne 2026, which takes place in Cologne from 9 to 11 June.
The launch builds on Giti’s wider truck and bus tyre development programme. Tyre News previously reported that the company had appointed Mat Wilkinson as TBR Sales Director UK ahead of a major 2026–27 commercial tyre launch, with a stated focus on improved Rolling Resistance Coefficient performance and reduced fleet CO₂ output.
Rolling resistance is a direct cost and emissions factor for transport operators. The European Commission says rolling resistance is linked to the energy required to move a vehicle, and is affected by tyre design, tread compounds, inflation pressure, load and road conditions. It also notes that lower rolling resistance can reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Giti says the Ecoroad line-up has been designed from scratch around a silica-based tread compound. The aim is to reduce tyre hysteresis and heat generation, helping to lower energy dissipation, running temperature and fuel consumption.
That claim fits the technical direction already seen in Giti’s truck portfolio. In April 2025, Tyre News covered the Giti EVO series, which introduced lower RRC grades, quieter performance and RFID-enabled lifecycle tracking for regional truck and bus applications.
The company says the new Ecoroad tyres have undergone field testing with a major European fleet to confirm performance under real operating conditions. For fleet buyers, that matters because tyre selection increasingly depends on whole-life cost, fuel use and measurable sustainability performance, rather than purchase price alone.
Antonio Palummo, Senior Manager TBR – Product Development and Technical Service at Giti Tire, said the first A-rated rolling resistance truck tyre in Europe was “a huge step” for the brand and its portfolio. He said the Ecoroad range was designed to help fleets minimise their CO₂ footprint by reducing vehicle energy consumption.
Palummo added that Giti had benchmarked the project against a premium manufacturer, and said independent tests showed the company had equalled or exceeded several target results.
Development of the Ecoroad range was led by Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany. The Giti GDL272 Ecoroad will also introduce a new two-sided Giti logo sidewall design, intended to support both product information and appearance when tyres are rotated.
For tyre dealers and fleet service providers, the range gives Giti a clearer long-haul efficiency proposition. The commercial test will be whether the tyres can deliver their claimed rolling resistance gains while maintaining mileage, wet grip and casing performance in daily fleet use.
