Continental has announced that Porsche has approved multiple tyre lines for fitment on the all-electric Macan, offering drivers a choice between sporting performance and comfort-focused options for summer driving, alongside a dedicated winter tyre solution.
The German tyre manufacturer will supply the electric SUV with either the SportContact 6 for drivers prioritising dynamic performance, or the CrossContact RX for those seeking enhanced comfort and reduced road noise. For winter conditions, Porsche recommends Continental's WinterContact TS 860 S. All approved tyres feature XL markings, indicating increased load capacity to handle the weight of electric vehicles.
The SportContact 6 represents Continental's ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) offering, delivering exceptional grip and safety at speeds of up to 350 km/h. Developed at Continental's Hanover facility, the tyre features several innovations specifically designed for high-powered sports vehicles, including a high-grip rubber compound, specially designed tread pattern for optimal force transmission, and a newly developed reinforcement structure.
For Macan drivers prioritising comfort over outright performance, the CrossContact RX provides a more refined driving experience with lower road noise levels. This all-season tyre incorporates specialised tread technology and a tailored siping concept, whilst its groove geometry ensures rapid water removal from the contact patch, significantly reducing aquaplaning risk and maintaining strong grip on wet surfaces.
Depending on specification, the CrossContact RX is approved for speeds up to 270 km/h, with versions supplied for the Porsche Macan carrying a V speed rating suitable for speeds up to 240 km/h.
The WinterContact TS 860 S has been engineered specifically for sports cars, high-performance vehicles and SUVs, delivering outstanding dry braking performance alongside strong handling in snowy conditions. Continental says the tyre is particularly well-suited to electric vehicles, able to cope with the instant torque and acceleration characteristics of EVs whilst offering exceptionally low rolling resistance to help extend driving range.

Continental's relationship with Porsche extends well beyond the Macan, with the premium tyre manufacturer supplying original equipment fitments for nearly the entire Porsche lineup, including the Taycan, Cayenne and Panamera.
The approved tyre lines are available in sizes ranging from 235/55 R20 to 295/35 R22, with the SportContact 6 offered in 21-inch fitments, the CrossContact RX spanning 20 to 22-inch sizes, and the WinterContact TS 860 S available in 21 and 22-inch options. All approved tyres carry the NE0 marking, indicating Porsche original equipment specification.
