The Commercial Vehicle Show 2024 is set to showcase some of the most advanced safety technologies in the automotive industry.

Recent data from the Department for Transport reveals a significant decline in collision rates among vans and trucks over the past decade, highlighting the impact of continuous advancements in vehicle design and assistance technology. Today's light commercial vehicles (LCVs) are now 27% less likely to be involved in collisions per billion miles travelled compared to a decade ago, with heavy goods vehicle (HGV) collision rates more than halving.

This trend towards safer roads is further emphasised during Brake's Road Safety Week, taking place from 19-25 November. The week-long event spotlights safer road travel across the UK, encouraging van and truck operators to consider how fleet investments can enhance business growth while ensuring the safety of all road users.

The 2023 CV Show, held last year, attracted around 12,000 visitors from across Britain, all keen to explore the latest HGVs and LCVs equipped with innovative safety features such as wide-vision cabs and advanced driving support technologies. Over 100 suppliers were present, offering a range of safety-enhancing products including cameras, reversing aids, telematics, and sophisticated braking and tyre management systems designed to maximise safety in commercial vehicle operations.

The 2024 edition of the show, scheduled for 23-25 April at Birmingham’s NEC, promises to draw an even larger crowd.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the latest industry developments and gain valuable insights from a comprehensive seminar programme. This programme will address key topics such as driver well-being, talent retention and recruitment strategies, and the transition of fleets from fossil fuels to more sustainable alternatives.

“For commercial vehicle operators, every week must be road safety week – and the CV Show plays a crucial role in supporting that safety focus. With the widest range of vehicles, products and advice all under one roof, it’s the most important date in the calendar for suppliers to reach forward-thinking operators that are consolidating their commitment to safe operations.”

Susan Kitchener, Executive Lead of the CV Show.

With its comprehensive showcase of cutting-edge safety technologies and its focus on operational safety, the Commercial Vehicle Show 2024 is poised to be a landmark event in the automotive industry, reinforcing the UK's position as a leader in vehicle safety innovation.
