Goodyear, has announced the introduction of the Goodyear EV-Ready logo, a new emblem signifying the compatibility of its tires with both electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), as well as internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Scheduled for roll-out in 2024, the Goodyear EV-Ready logo will be prominently displayed on the sidewall of all new replacement tires. This initiative aims to instill confidence in drivers when selecting tires, ensuring they are optimally suited for their specific vehicle type. The logo will also aid dealers in simplifying sales processes and reducing inventory complexities.
With the rise in electric mobility, and S&P Global's projection of a predominantly electrified vehicle production in Europe by 2029, Goodyear is poised to lead in tire innovation. The company has developed a suite of technologies tailored for EVs and other powertrains to enhance performance, noise reduction, and tire longevity.
Key innovations include the SoundComfort Technology, which can reduce interior noise by up to 50%, and Mileage Plus Technology, designed to extend tire life. Additionally, Goodyear’s low rolling resistance technologies aim to reduce energy consumption and extend driving range, through optimized tire structure and aerodynamic sidewall design.
Goodyear’s expertise is further validated by its status as an original equipment (OE) supplier for approximately 50% of European-made EVs. This is a testament to the trust leading automobile manufacturers place in Goodyear's products and technologies.
In addition to the EV logo for replacement tires, Goodyear has also developed two other labels for its OE fitments, designed specifically for EVs and PHEVs. These are the Electric Drive Technology (EDT) and Electric Drive Ready (EDR) labels, each signifying a range of technologies tailored to meet the specific needs of these vehicles.
