The registration period for Transaid’s Cycle Kenya challenge is nearing its close, with only nine spaces remaining.
This unique event, set to take place from 4th to 13th October 2024, offers participants the opportunity to cycle 474km over six days, from Nyeri, situated at the base of Mount Kenya, to the expansive Lake Victoria. More than 30 individuals have already committed to the challenge, which not only promises an engaging physical endeavour but also a journey through some of Kenya's most picturesque landscapes.
Participants will journey through diverse terrains, including challenging climbs to viewpoints situated 2,550 metres above sea level, offering panoramic views of the country’s mountainous countryside and the Great Rift Valley. The route also includes a passage through a game conservation area, providing a unique opportunity to observe wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and buffalo in their natural environment.
Representatives from various sectors, including companies like ABE Ledbury, Hankook Tyres, and Marks & Spencer, have joined the challenge, illustrating the broad interest and support for Transaid’s mission from across the transport and logistics industry. Anna Giavedoni, Transaid's Events Officer, shared her anticipation for the event, noting it as Transaid’s inaugural cycle challenge in Kenya and an opportunity for participants to witness the organization's impactful work firsthand, including a visit to the motorcycle helmet project funded by the FIA Foundation.
The challenge is not only a testament to physical endurance but also a commitment to supporting Transaid’s humanitarian projects. Participants are required to register with a fee of £399 and pledge to raise a minimum of £4,150, which will contribute to the continuation of Transaid’s life-saving programmes. The package for participants includes air travel, accommodations, meals, and comprehensive support throughout the event, ensuring a safe and impactful experience.
Those interested in being part of this meaningful journey are encouraged to secure one of the remaining spots.
This challenge offers a unique blend of adventure, camaraderie, and the opportunity to contribute to a significant cause, all set against the backdrop of Kenya’s stunning landscapes.
