TORSUS, known for its heavy-duty off-road buses, has formed a strategic partnership with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) to address the evolving needs of special operations forces. This collaboration, solidified at EUROSATORY 2024 with the support of MAN Truck & Bus CEO Alexander Vaskamp, focuses on adapting MAN TGE and TORSUS TERRASTORM models for the stringent demands of special operations.
A significant highlight of this partnership is the selection of BF Goodrich tyres for the Terrastorm special operations vehicle. BF Goodrich tyres are chosen for their exceptional performance in demanding operational environments, offering several key benefits:
The 4×4 TORSUS TERRASTORM, based on a Volkswagen Crafter/MAN TGE 4Motion chassis, is powered by a EURO VI D 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. It offers two power outputs: 140PS (103kW) and 340Nm or 176PS (130kW) and 410Nm, paired with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
Manufactured in Slovakia, the TERRASTORM is designed to operate effectively in any terrain and weather conditions. It embodies the robustness required for special operations, combining the expertise from TORSUS’ previous off-road bus, the PRAETORIAN.
The TERRASTORM has undergone rigorous testing at various facilities, including the Tatra testing ground, ensuring its reliability and performance in extreme conditions. This ensures that the vehicle can handle beyond normal off-road usage while remaining comfortable on the road.
"This partnership allows us to leverage our combined expertise and deliver innovative vehicle solutions that keep pace with evolving requirements, empowering special operations units with the tools they need to succeed," Dzhukashvili added.
By integrating BF Goodrich tyres, TORSUS and RMMV enhance the Terrastorm's capability to meet the highest standards of performance, durability, and versatility, providing critical vehicle solutions for special operations forces.
