Falken and Fiege Mark Crystal Wedding Anniversary with Film Release
In a significant milestone, Falken Tyre Europe GmbH and logistics services provider Fiege are celebrating 15 years of a successful partnership. This collaboration sees Falken's tyres stored across four Fiege locations in Europe, spanning approximately 100,000 square metres of logistics space. Fiege is not only responsible for storing the tyres but also for their distribution.
The key to this enduring and effective partnership lies in open communication, proactive engagement from both parties, and a strong sense of mutual trust. These elements are highlighted in a short film produced by Falken and Fiege to commemorate their 15th anniversary.
The film, titled “Fast & Forward – Fiege x Falken,” celebrates the collaboration between the Japan-based tyre manufacturer and the 150-year-old family business from the Münsterland region of Germany. A teaser for the film was shared on the social media channels of both companies on 14th May 2024, with the full release scheduled for 23rd May 2024. The film, which will be available on the social media platforms of Falken and Fiege, chronicles the partnership's initial challenges, its development over the years, and future projects.
The partnership’s success is attributed to customer-oriented discussions that have facilitated rapid development. Both Falken and Fiege emphasise the importance of adapting to customer needs as the key to ongoing progress. Pia Pricken, Key Account Manager for Tyres at Fiege, stated, “We grow together with our customer – that’s what this partnership thrives on.”
Reflecting on the journey, Stephan Wittenbrink, Managing Director Industrial Business Unit at Fiege, remarked on the unexpected growth, saying, “15 years ago, we started storing tyres in Dortmund in an area roughly the size of the penalty area on a football pitch. We knew that plans for growth existed that were very ambitious – but the fact that we now supply 15 countries from numerous warehouses in Europe and now handle all our logistics from roughly 14 football pitches are certainly things we didn’t predict at the time.”
Bettina Feldmann, Chief Operating Officer of Falken Tyre Europe, expressed her satisfaction with the partnership and her vision for the future: “Fiege is a reliable partner, but Fiege is also innovative. That’s something that characterises logistics: always being on the move. We want to maintain this adaptability and to align it even more closely to the various customer requirements in the European market in order to fulfil our own requirements, and above all else, those of our customers.”
The Falken team looks forward to the future collaboration with Fiege with great anticipation. Despite potential challenges, there is a unanimous agreement that as long as the collaboration continues to run smoothly, the future holds further success for both companies.
