Toyo Tires, has announced the construction of a new solar array at its factory in Indjija, Serbia. The array, named "Taiyo" (太陽), is aimed at making the company's tyre production as environmentally friendly and carbon neutral as possible.

Currently, 50% of the solar panels have been commissioned with full utilization expected to come online later this year. The solar array is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 200,000 tonnes over its working life.

The company is also investing in the local workforce by providing training and prequalifying workers for future jobs installing solar panels and managing the operation of solar power plants. These skills will be in high demand in the region in the future.

The project is supported by UNDP Serbia, through the “Just Green Transition and Decarbonization in Serbia", financed by Government of Japan. Toyo Tires is proud to be at the forefront of sustainable transformation in the local community.

"We are thrilled to be leading the way in sustainable tyre production," said a Toyo Tires spokesperson. "This solar array is just the first step in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and investing in the local community."

The company's commitment to sustainability is a step in the right direction and serves as an example for other companies to follow. With the full utilization of the solar array, Toyo Tires is poised to make a significant impact on the environment and the local community.
