Goodyear, has announced the launch of its latest winter tyre range, the UltraGrip Performance 3. Designed to meet the evolving needs of today's drivers, the UltraGrip Performance 3 is set to take winter tyre performance to new heights.

As the trend towards larger and more powerful vehicles, such as SUVs and EVs, continues to grow, consumer demand for premium tyres with proven high performance and efficiency has increased. The UltraGrip Performance 3 has been developed in response to this demand, reducing the complexity of the winter tyre portfolio while delivering improved performance and efficiency.

By September 2023, the UltraGrip Performance 3 will be available in 94 sizes ranging from 14 to 21 inches, making it suitable for a wide range of passenger cars, including internal combustion engine, electric, and hybrid vehicles. A recent consumer study conducted by Buzzback on behalf of Goodyear found that the most important benefit of a winter tyre is its ability to perform well in all winter conditions, on snow, wet, and dry roads. This has driven Goodyear to develop a versatile tyre with an even more balanced winter performance than its predecessor.

Cutting-Edge Technologies for Leading Performance

The UltraGrip Performance 3 boasts a range of innovative features that set new performance benchmarks. A recent test conducted by the independent German test authority TUEV Sued confirms that, compared to four premium competitors, the UltraGrip Performance 3 leads in snow handling, wet braking, and dry braking.

The UltraGrip Performance 3 is based on the latest technologies, taking tyre performance to the next level. Its Snow Protect Technology provides increased sipe density, offering a multitude of gripping edges for optimal traction and grip. Additionally, "snow claws," longer grooves at the shoulder edge, improve performance on soft and deep snow.

The Wet Braking+ Technology, with an optimized round footprint, provides better water dispersion. Water is pushed to the side rather than the front, reducing the risk of aquaplaning and offering excellent performance in wet driving conditions. Innovative 3D sipes in the shoulder part increase tyre stiffness and improve performance on dry roads.

The UltraGrip Performance 3 is EV-ready thanks to special tyre features that improve efficiency and reduce interior noise. Rolling resistance has been reduced by up to 3%, and tyre weight by up to 10% across the range. Additionally, a more aerodynamic sidewall shape reduces turbulence and improves airflow. A new noise-canceling pattern design reduces interior noise by up to 36% (up to 2 dBA) across the range. Goodyear's SoundComfort Technology will be added to the future lineup, resulting in a noise reduction of up to 50% (up to 4 dBA).

To cope with the extreme torque of electric cars, the UltraGrip Performance 3 offers an innovative wear-resistant tread compound, while 3D sipes provide more stability to stand the stronger forces.

Fits Amongst the Latest and Most Popular Vehicles

The UltraGrip Performance 3 is compatible with the latest and most popular vehicles in the market, including the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Audi A6/S6, BMW i4 M50, BMW 4-series Gran Coupé, Cupra Formentor, Tesla Model S Plaid or Smart #1, Toyota Aygo X, or Volvo C40/XC40.

“We are excited to introduce the excellent UltraGrip Performance 3 to our trade partners, providing them with an outstanding product for all customers, and which simplifies their product portfolio.”
Sonia Leneveu, Director Marketing Consumer Europe, Goodyear.
