The Milan-based tyre manufacturer earned the "Top 1%" qualification, the highest recognition awarded by S&P Global. This accolade places Pirelli among an elite group of companies that excelled in sustainability, standing out from a rigorous evaluation of 9,400 companies worldwide. Of these, only 759 made it into the rankings, with their performance assessed across various sectors.
The Sustainability Yearbook, known for its thorough and detailed analysis, is based on S&P Global's Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). It serves as a crucial reference point for evaluating corporate sustainability performance. The assessment aims to highlight companies demonstrating significant strengths in multiple sustainability fields within their respective sectors.
Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President of Pirelli, expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, stating: "Being recognised again this year among the leaders in the Sustainability Yearbook 2024 confirms Pirelli's ability to integrate its sustainability strategy throughout the value chain. Concrete results and challenging objectives achieved with commitment from everyone."
This accomplishment follows Pirelli’s impressive score in the 2023 CSA for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices by S&P Global. The company secured the first position in the Auto Components and Automotive sectors of the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indices, achieving a score of 84 points, revised upwards from an initial score of 83.
Pirelli’s sustained commitment to sustainability is evident in its strategic integration of sustainable practices throughout its operations, from raw material sourcing to production processes. The company's dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles continues to set benchmarks in the automotive industry.
